ESCAPED FROM ALCATRAZ?

Though I have seen this movie too many times to count. I just had to get this DVD, starring Clint Eastwood. Watching this movie with an adult brain, I have to conclude the three men who escaped from Alcatraz most likely passed out from the cold water & drowned. Why? If Frank Morris was alive & well, he would have made contact with one of various media outlets by now. I must admit I am totally ignorant what his sentence was. If Morris was to serve a life sentence, this is the only reason I could see him staying clear of any attempts to contact the media. Otherwise, how could all three of them totally disappear, without a hint to their existence for so many years? Even though, I have always wanted to believe they made it, I am forced to believe They must have all died that night...
Any opinions on this subject?

Yes this was a good movie and THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (http://www.shawshankredemption.org) is also good.... I have both on VHS and i like watching them :)
