View Full Version : VIDEO HOLDOUT?
Wow, lot of disscussion here! What is the realistic chance of a major motion picture? SHIT OR GET OFF THE CAN SID AND MARTY! No matter how well the movie might do, you will make more money from the OLD show by releasing the boxed set-before the New movie is released. Are you blind to the demand? You can't be or there would be more than FIVE episodes circulating on tvland right now. Just an open letter from a deprived fan.
I would buy more videos of LOTL if I could find them. As far as the movie, I would certainly go see it as long as it was based on the old LOTL and not that cheezy new one. Put more out on video. What's the holdup?

Frankly, I'm not so sure a LOTL motion picture is such a good idea.
I'd much rather have a whole new series, executed better than LOTL90
of course, and a little more faithful to the original. A movie would
last all of 90 minutes, where a new TV series would give us at least
6 hours plus.
As for a boxed set of the series, I wouldn't hold out much hope. As
much as you, I, and I'm sure many others would love it, I've heard it
said that Marty Krofft is holding out for a bigger company and a bigger
deal than what he's got with Rhino. That may also be related to why
you're seeing the same few episodes over and over on TVLand.
In a sense, though, I agree with you. They need to do *something*!
Now is the time to cash in on the 70s nostalgia. It's starting to wane
and the 80s nostalgia is already starting to creep up on the horizon.
And let's face it, with today's fancy computer graphics, no matter how
good the stories, the old LOTL stop motion and puppetry just won't fly
anymore except to hardcore sci-fi fans. The only thing the 70s LOTL
has going for it right now is nostalgia and S&M Krofft should cash in
on it *now* instead of squandering it until the opportunity passes them
by.
My 2 cents.

Is this why I never get to see my favorite eposode, "Elsewhen," on TVland? also right now I am not seeing any eposodes, what's up? I hope that the power that be understand a lot of us fans out now in our thirties and it provides a lot of nostalgia to see these eposodes and would like to share it with our kids before they are in their thirties.

It is becoming my impression that sid and marty krofft are skipping around on a beach somwhere in H.R.Puffinstuff/Sigmund the Sea Monster suits respectively. Drunk with the prospect of a windfall, they are waiting too long for action. GOTTA MAKE THAT BOSS-HOGG DEAL RIGHT BROS.!!! lets talk about Ultra-man or Spectre-man for awhile and scare em' out of taco bell.
