Admittedly, it has been years since I've seen a third season episode. I recall that on its original run, I rather enjoyed "Medusa" and "Flying Dutchman."

Perhaps, from what I've heard, for good reason, everyone pretty much slams the third season. How about this--for a moment, play Devil's Advocate, and tell me some third season episodes that were actually, sorta-kinda, pretty good little shows.

Since no one ever answered this post, I thought I would.

The whole season was no good. In the first 2 seasons, almost every episode was about the Marshalls trying to get out of the land of the lost. The 3rd season was "who will the Marshall's meet this week and never see again. Just look at most of the titles:

Repairman
Medusa
Flying Dutchman
Hot-Air Artist
Abominable Snowman
Ancient Guardian
Medicine Man

None of these characters ever came back. And if the Land Of the lost is about 10 miles across (see Hurricane episode with the binoculars), you would think they would see some of them, or at least that stupid Flying Dutchman every now and again "Look, Will, there is that silly boat flying through the sky again", but it never happens.

The only 2 episodes worth ANYTHING (in my opinion) from the 3rd season are "After Shock" and "Timestop". I liked After Shock, even though most didn't, and Timestop was the only one with a legimitate chance of them going home. The rest were garbage.

There were lots of good things about Season 3, it's just that the quality of the show had gone down so much that it was awfully disappointing.

The Medusa episode held alot of interest, After Shock had some great parts, there was some interesting cave exploration in Time stop, the cave where the Marshalls stayed was scary and really cool, especially when they had to roll the door shut on those logs! There were lots of great things, but the disappointment in production just seems to come to the front all the time. I have the eps on tape, and wouldnt trade them for anything!

Timestop was arguably the best episode of the third season. And for one reason. It was actually written for the second season. The show was written by Tom Swale who was associate producer on the 1st two seasons. The show was, as I understand, to be the third of a trilogy of shows in the second season about the temple (the test, the musician, and time stop), but wasn't produced the second year. The script was dusted off and slightly re-written for the third season. This was the only credit Tom Swale had for the third season.

I liked Aftershock, Medusa, and TimeStop in the thrid season--I think the third season broke many rules of seasons one and two and the writeers fialed to use the "rules" from the first two seasons. Cha-ka could speak perfect english and Enik was reduced to saying "Illogical" like SPock might have in Star Treak. I think the third season is better than most shows today--but compared to seasons 1 and 2--it doesn't hold up against them very well. Just my opinion though http://www.landofthelost.com/ubb/smile.gif

The Episode the Orb was cool too--and the epidoe where Cha_ka gets bitten by a gold beetle and becomes evil too--is kinda cool and far out there too--lol http://www.landofthelost.com/ubb/smile.gif
