View Full Version : Links anyone?

So the fan forum wasn't pulling them in like I thought. Well, Exodus is a must read, so I left up the link. When I buy this damn UBB software I can fix everything up, but for now, bear with me.
I was thinking, while all of you fine fans are cruising the Net, perhaps you have come across other sites where a link to this site would be a natural. Well, now you have an easy place to put that URL you've been meaning to tell me about.
This site got really spoiled with the Yahoo activity, and now I want to figue out some ways to climb to those heights again.
Any ideas? Post them here!
Together we can make a difference.

How did it get to be a Yahoo pick of the week?

I'm guessing they just go through the new Yahoo sites and pick ones they like. I got my official notice I was in the Yahoo directory on a Monday. That Wednesday I was actually "IN" so I could search and find my site on Yahoo.
That Friday I started getting bowled over as a Yahoo cool link, then the following Sunday night/Monday morning the world went haywire as I got the Yahoo pick of the week.
It was so nuts I could barely keep up with the mail I was getting.
The best part is, even way after it is over, I'm still getting residual hits from all those people who never would have thought to look for this site.
I'd like to think of us as the Land of the Lost web portal.

If you're trying to increase traffic, may I suggest Search Engine Forums (http://www.searchengineforums.com/bin/Ultimate.cgi) They have links to sister sites at the bottom of the page. Basically they're forums on how to get your site into search engine results like Yahoo and Alta Vista.
I did find this site on a lark through a search engine. I think it was Alta Vista or Metacrawler. Can't remember.

It looks like my link didn't work for the search engine forums. I thought I was really good at UBB codes.
If you liked that one you can register at http://www.ubbdir.com they have low traffice but I'll bet they will take off soon. Although I am not sure how they will react to a site using the freeware version so extensively. If money is an issue UBB has a one year lease version that is about half of the full price.

Heh ... I don't usually list freeware UBB's, but I always check them out before deleting them. I saw this was a pretty active forum (unlinke most freeware UBBs) and decided to keep it.

Ooops!
I thought I already added this UBB! :)
Feel free to submit it, and I will gladly add it to my database.

Does anyone know if Living Island is the official Sid & Marty Krofft site and if so is it still being kept up?
http://www.livingisland.com/
I went there about 3 months ago before I found this site and it worked okay, but now 3/4 of the links are dead.

Nevermind I just went back and saw that it says "The Unofficial Web Site"
Do the Kroffts have an official web site?
