Last time I spoke to the folks over at Rhino Home Video (the folks putting out all Krofft shows at the moment) we talked at length about Land of the Lost. They said there are too many episodes for all of them ever to be released on videotape, but that they were considering making DVDs of all the episodes if there was enough interest.

Well, this is the place to show your interest! Post a short note and slap your name on there somewhere and let the people at Rhino know the fans want DVDs! When enough people have spoken their mind, I will forward the whole forum over to my contact at Rhino.

DUH!? That would be the most amazing thing. A DVD owner/LOTL fan fantasy. Believe me, if they released the original LOTL, uncut, on DVD, all 43 episodes, I would not only buy it, but I would be more likely to buy it on DVD than on video. They could release 8 on a DVD, 8 DVDs, with 3 on the last one. 43 is a prime number, so it's a bit hard to divide, but they could do a lot. Take note from the South Park people, who are releasing 4 or 5 episodes per DVD. This would be incredible.

I forgot to add that we also talked about what kind of things to put on the DVD: storyboards, scripts, interviews, memorabilia, all that fun stuff they can fill the DVDs with aside from the episodes themselves.

So if you have any requests in this area, post that too!

One thing I'd love to see would be a separate audio channel where some of the actors/crew talked about the specific happenings on the screen, special effects, goof ups and so forth from that specific episode.

i think the fact that people are bootlegging copies of the shows a conventions or on the internet is proof enough that there is a demand for these episdoes...and dvd is the only way to go!!

Get all 43 of the shows on DVD and I'll be one of many to boast that Marshall,Will and Holly are in my front room everyday!!! Collecting this and spreading the word to other collectors will be a great task that will make alot of people happy. Lets get them on the market. My money is burning a hole in my pocket.

This is the perfect and only solution, to release LOTL on DVD. This would reduce the dealing in boot-legged, old, multi-generational VHS copies which are filled with interruptions.

Rhino could make money off of the deal selling the DVDs, we wouldn't have to worry about big brother knocking on the door.

And finally most important, we would all have fair and legal access to the best possible quality episodes permanetly recorded on DVD. Give us, the loyal fans, what we want! We want to, and will buy these if you make them.

Of course, I would buy all the episodes of Land of the Lost on DVD IMMEDIATELY! It would be a dream come true to have the entire LOTL series on a high quality format such as DVD in my possession! I've waited so long for this!
It is also a great idea to include other stuff like interviews with cast and production crew and behind-the-scenes footage. That would be cool.

This would be a great asset to the dvd community if more of the children's shows were put on dvd complete and uncut. I would buy all of the Land of the Lost episodes. Some nice extras would be that they be put out chronologically with some background notes on the particular episodes as well as some interviews with the cast (not specifically on each disc).

I loved the show when I was a kid and I'd definitely buy the DVD. In fact I recently mentioned LOL to some of my friends. They said that they also loved the show. I'm sure that many of us 30 somethings would see the DVD's in the store and would think "I really loved that show" and we'd buy it.

I really do hope that Rhino will put LOTL on video. I was about six years old when the show premired on NBC. Anyway this will entice me even more to buy a DVD player. Come on Rhino, we really need this show released. I am very disgusted that TV Land took it off the air. Well, I have the original shows taped but these were aired on SciFi Channel years ago, which means that they are definitely edited. Even then this does suffice watching the whole show without any deviations.

I would absolutely love it if LOTL videos would come out on DVD. I just bought the two volume set and I adore it!! I realize it is hokey, but I've longed to see the shows again since I was a child, and now I've finally seen 4!!!!!!

Please release Land of the Lost on DVD--People at Rhino:):)--I grew up watching Land of the Lost in the 1970's. I just aquried the full three season episodes on Video tape. I would love to "retire" my video tapes and use DVD. I think this show should be put on DVD for our the kids that we may have iin the future. I thought this show was fun and educational too--My children and Niece and Nephew should have the opportunity to see a real quality show like Land of the Lost-I know they would enjoy it and I would love to have these shows on DVD too. To Whom it may concern at Rhino Home Video;
I would like to address the issue of having Land of the Lost released on DVD format. At present time and as far as I can tell, the fandom for Land of the Lost is expanding! New LOTL fans are created everyday, even as the original fans are loyal to this suberb example of a classic Saturday morning live-action kids show. To this day the highly original story premise, imaginative art direction, special effects, and character development (not to mention the strong family values presented) all added to the continuity of the show and set it apart from all others.
In this day and age I believe children are becoming more and more bored and disenchanted with the lack of imaginative ideas and positive influences in the action oriented, computer graphics laden TV and movies of today. Any child I have had watch an episode of the show with me becomes instantly mesmerized and wants to see more. They become interested in the characters and their quest to find a way home in the strange and frightening lost world. They can relate to the Marshall children and their father and this helps to make the show that much more entertaining. Not to mention the fantastic creatures they encounter and places they discover while exploring the land. It is very rewarding when my nephews and niece ask questions about the show with intent, scientific curiousity.
As I have stated, I do believe there is a real need for the show to be released on the visuial format of the future...DVD. In digital clarity, an complete Land of the Lost library would preserve the story of the Marshall Family and thier adventures for future generations of children.
I would personally like to see all of the first and second season of the show released immediatley to DVD. Season three holds very little interest for me due to the radical changes made in the storyline and poor direction of the characters. But judging from the extreme desire of LOTL fans all over the world to acquire episodes of the show, I believe there would be zero lack of sales. With a proper promotion of the DVD release of the show, I believe the revival would amaze you.
So as I submit my petition to you, I think back many years ago about loyal fans who showed their devotion to keep a certain science fiction show they believed in on the air by a massive letter writing campaign. Even after the the series ended after only three years, the revival began and now it is part of mankind's history. Anything is possible when we people unite, and I believe you can see our enthusiasm to have Land of the Lost released on DVD.

Let the advances and success in digital audio technology over the last 15 years suggest that digital video technology is finally catching up to where it should be.
