Dear Mr. Mulligan,
Don't know how else to reach you or if you ever receive posting, but I just wanted to thank you for all your fine acting you did on Land of the Lost. I am 42 now and have just started introducing my own kids to the show. I enjoy the episodes as much as I did back then and never got tired. It's amazing how much footage commercial TV cut off that it was nice to see scenes I never saw before. I know the show had a lot of talent so thanks go to all the other actors, writers, set designers, special effects, and to Sid and Marty Croft. But I especially wanted to say thank you for your work in making me believe in you as the "dad".
There is so much junk and violence on the TV today that it is refreshing to see Land of the Lost reborn again in DVD. I only wish you had been on the DVD for commentary on your experience on the show.
I hope I live as a dad following your lead that your character was believable, you loved your kids with a firm but loving hand, that you assumed a role of a mother and a father, you always taught them right from wrong, and were strong in the face of emotional or traumatic stress.
I still laugh to this day where you try to shout at Ta to say "Go on, get of here, we're bigger than you are" that it was played so well and then you were so cool and followed "Somehow I think that didn't work".
Probably my favorite episode was "Stone Soup" of the whole series. You played a dad pretending to be going crazy to a T to teach his kids a lesson.
Anyway, I hope all is well with you and your family and I wish you well. Thanks again for being a role model for me (and I am sure many other dads) growing up the 70's. Besides your own family and the love that you give them, you gave a great gift to your fellow man!
Peace.
Doug M.
