LOTL Movie news!!
Hey everyone,
Check out the article I just posted today: www.landofthelost.com/lotlmovie.htm Up to the minute news on the Land of the Lost movie. I'm sure it will open up a world of discussion, so check it out! George |
George,
Did any aspect of how the special effects would be handled come up? If so will they be using CGI to create the dinosaurs, sleestak, pakuni etc.? |
Mike,
Actually some of that did come up, and the consensus among the folks involved was that they would rather avoid over elaborate CGI effects and remain more true to the original show. I'm certain the Pakuni will be played by actors in suits, not too sure about the Sleestak, but I would guess the dinosaurs might involve a combination of some type of computer animation mixed with more old style technologies as a bow to the TV series. The script is in great hands, I am really looking forward to seeing this thing make it to the big screen. George |
Frm your report on LOL movie I can nly say one thing, Interesting.
|
Sounds reasonably encouraging. If it increases awareness of the original series among more people, and spurs the release of the entire original series on VHS and DVD, like the Avengers movie did, then that may end up being it's biggest achievement of all.
It would be great if they could find a part for Kathy Coleman. Perhaps as the mother archeologist who passes along her dying wishes in the beginning? |
It is so great to hear that the movie is finally in it's beginning stages. The whole premise sounds terrific, and I agree very much that a cameo by Kathy in some sort of fashion would be most complimentary. Look at what the Brady bunch movies did. They brought back some original members for quick cameo appearances, why not do the same with LOTL?
I don't have a copy of the movie (shame on me),but are you telling the truth about Teddy playing Augustus Gloop in Willy Wonka? That was and still is one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid. Even today when it comes on I have to sit and watch it. And the character of Augustus was one of the funniest. I have this friend who let's say is "caloretically challanged". He weighs 300 lbs if he weighs an ounce. And don't get me wrong, I think alot of the guy. Like I said, we are friends. But whenever I have the opportunity to sit and eat with him, I always find it amusing to say to him in my best German accent "Augustus, save some room for later!" Sounds like the movie is in good hands! Thanks for the update George! Now back to you! |
Hey Dave,
Actually I hate to say Teddy was just being a smartass when he wrote he was Augustus Gloop, that is why I followed it with his real bio. The Willy Wonka one he sent over made me laugh so hard when I read it I hurt myself. Cameos are definitely being though of and worked on, not to worry! George |
George,
After posting that last message, I went to Hollywood.com and looked up who played Augustus Gloop, and it was a kid named Michael Vollmer. Hearing the name Augustus Gloop was funny though. Willy Wonka was and still is one of my favorite movies from when I was I kid. Every time it comes on TV I have to sit and watch it. Come to think of it, we never really find out what happens to all those bad little kids that misbehaved in Wonka's factory. We just have to believe Mr. Wonka that they were returned to their normal, terrible old selves. Imagine if the kids and thier parents somehow ended up in the Land of the Lost? I can see it now: Violet Bouraguarde: Oh no! Dopey thinks I'm a REAL blueberrry and is trying to eat me! Run! Mike Teevee: Don't worry Violet! I'll shoot it with my cap gun! (aims at Dopey and makes 'bang bang' sounds). Darn! If only I had a real 45.! My dad says I can't have one till I'm 12! Augustus Gloop: Let me at him, I'm starving! (Grabs Dopey's tail and takes a bite) Mrs Gloop: Augustus, save some room for later! (Suddenly, Chaka comes out along with Ta and Sa, and they start to do a dance and chant: Pakuni: Ota!...Ota!..Yehba-di doo!...We've got another puzzle for you! Ota!...Ota!...Yeaba-di da! Listen to Chaka, Ta.. and Sa! Ta: What do you get in the Land..of ..the Lost? Sa: Chased by the Sleestak, and Grumpy's the...boss! Chaka: Who, thought this world up, and what was..the...cost? Ta: You know exactly who...it...was. All Pakuni: Sid and Marty Krofft! Varuca Salt: Ohh! I want a pakuni! Daddy, I want you to get me a pakuni right away! Mr. Salt: Alright angel, Daddy will get you a pakuni as soon as we get home! Varuca Salt: But I want a pakuni NOW!!! Oh well, even if he was only joking about playing Augustus Gloop, it was fun to think about it for awhile. How do you like my little take off on Willy Wonka meets the Land of the Lost? |
The deleted alternate ending explaining what happened to the missing kids in Willy Wonka: Charleton Heston is carried off by Wonka's minions, yelling, "Wonka Chocolate is people! Wonka Chocolate is people!"
|
Excellent... :)
I read the info and was impressed. |
It definitely sounds interesting, though I'm not too sure I like the Mayan civilization stuff. And that whole rafting thing is kind of important.
When is this movie supposed to be made? |
Any movie being actually made after it is written is a crapshoot. It all depends if the bigwhigs get excited enough about it to greenlight the thing.
And no worries, rafting will fit into it somewhere, trust me! George |
